BrightonSoup is a community Dragon’s Den where we can meet (online for now) and hear from four local projects over a bowl of soup. Then you vote for the winner.
Why Soup? It’s a cheap, healthy and very tasty way of feeding people so all the ticket money can go to the winning project.
We have had to adapt how BrightonSoup works for now, so our events are currently online following the same principles of pitches, soup, music and voting, just online. We hope to be back in the autumn for our next event.
You can sign up to our mailing list to be first to know when applications open again for new projects and when tickets go on sale for future events.
You can listen how BrightonSoup works in this interview on Radio Reverb.
Anyone can apply to BrightonSoup. You just need an idea or project that benefit the people of Brighton & Hove City. You don’t need formal plans, be an organisation or charity. You just need a great idea.
Oh, and be willing to stand up in a room (or should we say Zoom) full of very friendly people and tell them about it (or have a friend do it :)). Don’t worry, we give you training and support you through the process.
On the night, if enough people are interested and excited about your project, they will vote you their money. The great thing is that even if you don’t win the vote you can still make great connections and get support and help anyway.
Inspired by detroitsoup.com, we’re doing it Brighton & Hove style.
Come along and be a dragon – a Soup Dragon, if you will 🙂
Brighton & Hove County Council were the first to support us and were crucial in helping us develop and grow. More recently the Sussex Community Foundation has helped us consolidate our growth and supported our trustee development.
We thank them both very much.
