Welcome to Brighton Soup

What is BrightonSoup?

BrightonSoup is a platform for small local projects to pitch for seed-funding in a uniquely social, interactive community setting. A bit like Dragon’s Den, but without the dragons, just a warm and supportive group of local people.

Our next event is on 07 October 2022 – tickets will be on sale in September. Sign up to learn when they are on sale.

How does it work?

Tickets for Soup events cost from £5. For that, the audience hears four local projects pitch their ideas.

Each presenter has four minutes to share their idea, and then answer questions from the audience.

Everyone then has a bowl of delicious soup (donated by our local chefs), chats with each other, listens to our musical entertainment (played for free) and most importantly, votes on the project they like the most.

At the end of the night, we count the ballots and the winner goes home with all of the money raised from the door to carry out their project – usually £300-500.

Radio Reverb had us on to talk about Brighton Soup and how it all works – you can listen to what we had to say here.

Online Soup and LIVE Soup

Due to Covid19, we had to adapt how we did things. Our 2021 events were online – still with pitches, soup, music and voting. Soup Online works really well – hear about the projects who took part in June 2021 here and October 2021 here.

We are now back to LIVE & IN-PERSON events. You can read about how our return to Community Base on 25 March went here.

Our next event is on 07 October 2022. Join our mailing list to learn when tickets go on sale.

Have you got an idea that would benefit your community?

Anyone can apply to BrightonSoup. You just need an idea or project that benefits the people of Brighton & Hove City. You don’t need formal plans, be an organisation or charity. You just need a great idea.

Oh, and be willing to stand up in a room (or should we say Zoom) full of very friendly people and tell them about it. Don’t worry, we give you training and support you through the process.

On the night, if enough people are interested and excited about your project, they will vote for you. The great thing is that even if you don’t win the vote you can still make great connections and get support and help anyway.
